The use of factor eight inhibitor by-passing activity (FEIBA immuno) product for treatment of bleeding episodes in hemophiliacs with inhibitors.

FEIBA (factor eight inhibitor by-passing activity) Immuno was used to achieve hemostasis in 46 patients with factor VIII inhibitors with titers greater than 4 Bethesda units, and 3 patients with factor IX inhibitors. One-hundred and sixty-five bleeding episodes were treated with 50-70 U/kg; 102 of these episodes occurred in joints. 20 in mucous membranes, 33 muscle and soft tissue, and 10 were ...

Spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma in a child with hemophilia B.

Central nervous system hemorrhage is an uncommon and potentially devastating event in hemophiliacs, with an incidence of 2-8%.1 Intraspinal hematomas account for 8.5% of CNS hemorrhages in patients with factor VIII or IX deficiencies.2 Although most reported cases in this population are secondary to trauma, there are a few reports of spontaneous hemorrhage.3,4,5 We present a case of spontaneous...

The use and safety of Ibuprofen in the hemophiliac.

After demonstrating initial safety of Ibuprofen administered to hemophiliacs, a 16-wk double-blind individual crossover trial was designed to test the safety and, to a more limited extent, the efficacy of 1600 mg of Ibuprofen or placebo given daily to 20 hemophiliacs with hemophiliac arthropathy. The trial was completed with no evidence of increased frequency or severity of hemophiliac bleeding...
